RAMBLINGS-OF-A-MAD-THEM

Hi there! Ramblings-of-a-mad-them here! I am starting this website/blog because I want a place to write and create art about things that I’m passionate about and that are important to me. I want to share my ideas and get feedback about how I see the world around me because I think it is important. I have a lot of big dreams and projects that I want to do but I think that the flexibility of an updatable website is a reasonable medium for me at this point. I have a little bit of experience with HTML and CSS so I figured this would be a fun place to do this.

I’m calling this “ramblings-of-a-mad-them” as a play on the phrase “ramblings of a mad man.” I came up with this name based on feeling like people probably perceive me as a bit crazy. I am a very anxious person, I over explain things, and I have a lot of weird things that I do to try and function normally. I feel like a lot of people deny people’s opinions and world views if they are mentally ill or have a different perspective than most people. I see this as sort of an underlying issue for a lot of things: people don’t find importance in others' opinions just because they might have different needs. I want to do my best to not do this and encourage others to do so as well.

I feel that my values intertwine a lot with my queerness – people with powerful voices sometimes deny someone's perspective when it is not the typical one. I recognize how the communities I am a part of experience this and I want to learn about other communities and how I can support them. Every person deserves their view to be heard, to be listened to and understood, and to have the ability to meet their needs and feel passionate about what they do. It feels hopeless to vocalize this while peoples rights, safety, and lives are being taken by people in power but I feel that seeing things fall apart might encourage more than a band-aid solution.

I want to advocate for marginalized voices through my passions and encourage others to do this themselves. It hurts that the world’s current structure hurts and discourages so many people. I recognize the social, governmental, and economic systems that hurt pretty much everyone and I want to figure out what I can do about it. I want to learn so that I can make informed decisions in my personal life. I want to create systems for my local communities to support each other and encourage others to do so as well.

I think that instead of thinking about things individually we need to see them as part of a larger picture. I want to learn about the interconnections between everything (and I plan to create a page that illustrates these connections).

I am still working on laying this out and I kind of have to relearn HTML and more about CSS. Check back later for updates!
